This quote from an article published by the Guardian (August, 2011) profoundly illustrates the ecological value that lies within Yasuni park deep within the forests of Ecuador. And now, the natural treasure is threatened as it sits upon the lucrative, energy-packed compound of crude oil. The Yasuni is on the cusp of being subjected to large-scale oil extracting operation which could devastate what is being describe as the "world's last great wilderness" in the Guardian article.
