On Wednesday April 25th at the Victoria Event Centre, Open Cinema in partnership with Sierra Club BC is putting on a special screening of the beautiful and hard-hitting Canadian docu-essay, Surviving Progress. This documentary discusses the concept of the 'progress trap', referring to a sacrifice of the future of the environment for short-term gains, and it features the thoughts and ideas of venerated minds such as Stephen Hawking, David Suzuki, Margaret Atwood and Jane Goodall.  The documentary will be followed by a scintillating open forum discussion with author and historian, Ronald Wright, whose book A Short History of Progress inspired the film.
